Let Play Political Greed - Road to the Middle Class

HERE AT Road to the Middle Class we are constantly thinking of ways to shine a light on the world. For we are postmodern in the sense that we understand that facts do not speak for themselves any more than you can see in the dark.

No. First you must illuminate the facts.

Then the question arises: How? Do you use a harsh single point of illumination or do you bathe the facts in warm diffused lighting?

Facts are facts. But if you light them and dress them up they could be a star!

Here’s an idea. It’s a game for two people. You’ve heard about Wall Street Greed and Corporate Greed. This is different. This is a game called “Political Greed.” One person gets to be “Democrat” and the other person gets to be “Republican.” FIrst the players choose a year, and then they select the programs they want for the supporters of their party. The party with the president in the White House in that year gets to go first. Turn by turn, the players get to watch the programs pile up, on the Dem side and on the Rep side.

Guess what. The party with the most programs wins.

There’s a kicker in here, of course. The Dem will almost always win the game of Political Greed.

Because? Well, because when you start piling up Social Security and Medicare against Defense and Police Protection... Well, you see what I mean.

If you are a Republican, maybe it is a point of honor not to win. Unless of course it’s 1944 and World War II is on.

So far, it’s just an idea, but it probably ought to be located on roadtothemiddleclass.com and not usgovernmentspending.com. After all, usgovernmentspending.com is supposed to be just about the facts, Ma’am. Politics and values are supposed to be confined to roadtothemiddleclass.com.

There would be only one piece of technology we’ed have to create to make it work, and that would be a quick and dirty API for usgovernmentspending.com so that you could get an XML file of a year’s government spending data. No problem, right?
